“People who get involved in health research tend to have better health outcomes, as they become better at managing their own health. Joining the research community is good for you and good for others.”

Patient Engagement

Greater Manchester and Eastern Cheshire Strategic Clinical Networks (GMEC SCNs) are working with iPLATO to invite patients to take part in the programme. We request your consent to invite your patients.

If you consent, iPLATO will send an SMS text message to patients registered at your practice who are 18+ years. This will be a short GP-endorsed SMS text message from “NHS-NoReply” inviting the patient to join the Research for the Future programme via a link.

All data will be stored and managed securely and to the highest professional standards, in compliance with data protection laws.

Research for the Future is a National Institute for Health and Care Research Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN) initiative, supported by the NHS. The current programme is co-funded by NHSE via GMEC SCNs, Health Innovation Manchester and NIHR CRN Greater Manchester.

Data Processing and Data Sharing Summary

  1. iPLATO will facilitate the ongoing extraction of client demographic data via the practice clinical system phonebook, for which the data will be minimised as far as possible.
  2. All data is processed within the HSCN network.
  3. Only patients who have consented to receive SMS will be contacted.
  4. iPLATO Healthcare acts as a data processor for this service.
