Oviva Weight Management Programme

Oviva’s Tier 2 Weight Management Programme is a free, fully funded 12-week programme to help people transform their health and improve their weight management. As a 100% remote service, iPLATO will invite patients to take part in the programme via SMS.  Patients can participate from the comfort of their own home and receive support at a time that suits them, via secure app messaging or telephone calls.

The programme offers remote personalised support and self-led learning with a personal coach or coach-led support group to provide expert healthcare.

How can my patients sign up? 

This is a fully funded initiative at no cost to your practice.Working with iPLATO, SMS messages will be sent to patients registered at your practice, who have a mobile number and have opted in for SMS communication.  

Which patients are eligible for the programme?

  • People with BMI of 30 or over (including those with/ without long term health conditions such as diabetes) OR

  • BMI of over 27.5 for those of South Asian descent such as Bangladeshi, Indian, or Pakistani and you have a long-term health condition such as diabetes.

How will it work?

  • iPlato Healthcare will be sending text messages to consenting and likely eligible patients registered at practices across the Nottingham area.
  • The text messages will invite people to access the Oviva Weight Management programme.
  • This SMS Programme will be in addition to any existing programmes. Please note that, upon sign up, no further interaction will be required by GP Practices.

FAQ

Data Processing and Data Sharing Summary

  1. iPLATO will facilitate the ongoing extraction of client demographic data via the practice clinical system phonebook, for which the data will be minimised as far as possible.
  2. All data is processed within the HSCN network.
  3. Only patients who have consented to receive SMS will be contacted.
  4. iPLATO Healthcare acts as a data processor for this service.
